In this mission, we get to see an EMP take effect from space before we’re brought back down to the ground in which you have to literally dodge falling helicopters as they explode next to you. It’s annoying being caught out in the rain, especially when it’s raining helicopters. #13: Second Sun “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” (2009) The awe of seeing it crumple before exploding will make you forget you have to shoot bad guys, as you’ll be so engrossed by the spectacle. It’s not often you get to fight in a crashing plane, floating while dodging bullets. Call of Duty is known to have shorter missions sprinkled throughout its campaign, where we take control of someone we haven’t played as before, who unfortunately meets their demise, but boy, do we put up a fight before we go down here. This is arguably one of the most exciting missions in the franchise. #14: Turbulence “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” (2011) The revelation at the end is the real highlight here, as we discover that Reznov was never really with Mason, and it was all in his head. This raises the stakes quite a bit and forces you to take extra caution. The gameplay element of fighting in the gas is a unique one, in which you can take permanent damage to your gas mask. Nova 6 is deployed, and you’re forced to witness horrible visuals of people exposed to the gas who begin to slowly and agonizingly die in front of you. We see the events on Rebirth Island play out from two perspectives Mason’s and Hudson’s. #15: Rebirth “Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) The game slows down as you pick your shots, giving the experience a real cinematic feel. Battling through the smoke at the start of the level adds an extra level of precaution to your moves, but when you get to the estate, your search for Makarov has you blowing up doors like there’s no tomorrow. While the ending twist is devastatingly sad, with the music masking our cries, it’s not the only highlight here. Reliving this moment may be painful, so we’ll get through it together. #16: Loose Ends “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” (2009) You can’t have a Call of Duty game without a great sniper section, and these are scattered throughout the mission. sniper segment, while intense, actually feels like a break, as we momentarily forget about the despair and horrors of our surroundings. Reznov’s narration, accompanied by the music, adds depth to the struggle you’re facing, not just throughout the mission, but the entire game. Seeing the genuine fear of a comrade doing whatever he can to get away in the opening scene definitely sends a chill down our spines. If you had played the first two games, you probably shed a tear at this point. The music builds to an emotional crescendo until Soap passes away. What follows is an action-packed escape sequence as we try and get Soap to safety. Makarov knows you’re here, and the plan falls to pieces. The opening scene of this mission is reminiscent of All Ghillied Up, only this time it goes horribly wrong. #18: Blood Brothers “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” (2011) It has everything a great Call of Duty mission needs.

While full of explosions and firefights, the mission's end does have a moment of sadness and loss. Its horror-themed search through the facility makes your heart pound and its action-packed gunplay makes your palms sweat, all culminating in one intense journey. Its opening moments of traversing the asteroid that has been knocked out of orbit, forcing you to stay sheltered from the sun, which is literally disintegrating everything, is intense. Take this mission, for example It can be summed up with one word epic. Infinite Warfare has a bad rap, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad.
